Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story
by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Jun 15 08:48:44 PDT 2016
Chip and Joanna Gaines are the definition of marriage goals, but their relationship didn’t necessarily have a fairytale start.
In the first chapter of The Magnolia Story, released as a sneak peek today, the Fixer Upper dream team spills the details of how they met — and it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
Joanna agreed to go out on a date with Chip after meeting him and his roommate “Hot John” — who she actually tried to approach minutes earlier, but was too shy — in the waiting room of her dad’s auto shop. She had second thoughts, however, after Chip arrived an hour and a half late to pick her up.

“He didn’t apologize for being late, either. He had so much confidence. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. Only Chip could be an hour and a half late and have no one mad about it,” Joanna writes.

The chapter continues to describe the timeline of their relationship, which didn’t actually start until months after they first went out, when Chip (in typical guy fashion) finally called Joanna back.
“I’d made a bet with Hot John to see who could hold out the longest before calling our dates back,” Chip writes “I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That’s the only reason I didn’t call.”
After they went out a second time, the rest was history.

WATCH: Scott Disick Calls Tristan Thompson the 'First Nice, Normal Guy' Khloé Kardashian 'Has Ever Brought Home'
by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Sep 20 22:23:39 PDT 2017
Scott Disick approves of Khloé Kardashian‘s boyfriend Tristan Thompson.
Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, 34, spoke highly of the 26-year-old NBA player during his appearance with Khloé, 33, on Steve Harvey‘s show Steve on Thursday.
“He’s the first nice, normal guy she’s ever brought home,” Disick told Harvey adding that Thompson fits in “pretty well” with the KarJenner family.
“Not that we’re nice and normal! He’s an unbelievable guy and I’m just not used to that,” the father of three continued. “One guy is a close friend of mine, who I love so that’s not true.”
Kardashian briefly dated rapper French Montana, who Disick has been seen out with on multiple occasions.
Thompson and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star have been dating since last fall. The couple has already discussed their future, including marriage and kids, but Kardashian admitted she’s completely happy with the relationship as-is.
“I do really love Cleveland, I really enjoy it,” Khloé told Harvey about jetting back and forth from Los Angeles to Ohio, where Thompson plays for the Cavaliers. “I love the best of both worlds.”
A source told PEOPLE in July that Kardashian and Thompson are house-hunting together. They’re not moving in together officially just yet, but the athlete (who has a home in Cleveland) is looking to rent a place in Los Angeles, according to the insider.
“Khloé is just the happiest,” said the source. “She loves spending every day with Tristan.”
Kardashian and Disick’s episode of The Steve Harvey Show airs Thursday (check local listings).

Is Too Much Technology Making Us Sick?
by Margaret Manning @ Fashion, Hair, Makeup for Older Women, Senior Dating, Travel
Wed Sep 20 04:28:28 PDT 2017
For the most part, I'm a huge fan of technology. It helps us to communicate, keeps us healthier longer and gives us access to limitless sources of information. At the same time, there is no denying that technology has its downsizes. For example, it can encourage us to abandon genuine relationships in favor of fickle online friendships. It can also keep us locked up indoors when we should be exploring the world. So, today, I’d love to discuss how we can find the right balance between embracing technology and staying connected to the real world. Do you think that technology is mostly good or bad for our health? In what ways has technology improved your life? In what ways has it made it worse?

Nate Berkus Shares How His Entertaining Style Has Changed Since Welcoming Daughter Poppy
by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Jun 15 13:30:56 PDT 2016
Nate Berkus is the expert on all things party planning. But since becoming a father to one-year-old daughter, Poppy, the designer’s go-to entertaining style has had a few changes.
“We entertain around her nap schedule now,” Berkus, artistic advisor for LG Studio, told PEOPLE at a breakfast on June 8, which celebrated the sleek line of high-end appliances he helped design.
RELATED: WATCH: Jessie James Decker Gives a Tour of Her Lovely Florida Beach House
But when Poppy isn’t snoozing, Berkus, 44, and husband Jeremiah Brent, 31, keep her busy with poolside play dates that are a far cry from a formal outdoor gathering.
“Our home is now filled with blow up toys from Target in the pool as opposed to margaritas,” Berkus said.

And the menu planning is even simpler.
“We throw food on the barbecue, we’ve actually even had a taco truck come once,” Berkus said. “We do put out snacks for the little ones, and they sit and throw them in the pool.”
Although the guest list has been tweaked to include Poppy’s younger crowd, the design-savvy couple couldn’t be happier with their new scene.
“It’s a welcome change,” Berkus said.

Chris Soules' Attorneys Request Dismissal of 'Unconstitutional' Fatal Accident Charge
by Christina Dugan @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Sep 20 18:37:50 PDT 2017
Chris Soules‘ legal team is asking the court to dismiss the fatal accident charge against him, claiming it “unconstitutional” that he be charged for not returning to the scene of the accident.
On Tuesday, attorneys for the former Bachelor star filed a motion to dismiss in the Iowa District Court in Buchanan County.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the state alleged that Soules, 35, violated the Iowa code that states: “After leaving the scene of the accident, a surviving driver… shall immediately return to the scene of the accident or inform the law enforcement authors where the surviving driver can be located.”
However, Soules’ attorneys are refuting the last sentence of the code in new court documents, saying it should only be applicable when a surviving driver has not notified law enforcement of an accident while on the scene. (Soules did, in fact, contact authorities while on the scene of the accident.)
“This is a incurable defect in the State’s prosecution,” the documents filed Sept. 19 read. “Because Mr. Soules cannot be held criminally liable for failing to comply with an unconstitutional statute, the charge against him must be dismissed.”
“Mr. Soules fully satisfied the purposes of the statute by calling 911, giving his name to dispatch, administering CPR to Mr. Mosher, and staying on the scene until emergency responders arrived. Though Mr. Soules was shaken after the accident, he did everything in power to resuscitate Mr. Mosher,” the documents state. “Mr. Soules interacted with several other responders whom he recognized from his small community and at no point did he attempt to obfuscate his identify. Nevertheless, the State has charged Mr. Soules with a technical violation.”
Additionally, Soules’ attorneys say the requirement that a driver return to the scene or inform law enforcement of his location is “unnecessary to the noncriminal purpose of the statute” and “violates the privilege against self-incrimination.”
On April 25, Soules was arrested at 1:16 a.m. after a deadly car crash in Iowa, where he lives. According to the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, Soules was charged with leaving the scene of the fatal car accident that left 66-year-old war veteran Kenneth Mosher dead.
Soules — who appeared on season 19 of The Bachelor in 2015 — was not charged with driving under the influence, though court documents reveal Soules was in possession of alcoholic beverages/containers.
The Iowa State Patrol alleged that Soules fled the scene. His vehicle was later found at a home that he was present at, and Soules allegedly refused to leave until officers obtained a search warrant several hours later.
“Mr. Soules would not come out of the home. It took hours to get a search warrant to retrieve Mr. Soules from inside of that house in order to continue the investigation. That took hours,” the state prosecutor said in court. “At no point did Mr. Soules come out of the house, or cooperate with law enforcement at any point in trying to get in contact with him regarding this individual and the accident.”
Soules entered a not guilty plea in May to the charge of leaving the scene of the fatal accident in April. He called 911, identified himself and attempted to administer aid to victim.
In June, Soules’ legal team filed court documents, which were obtained by PEOPLE, that stated the former Bachelor did not have alcohol or drugs in his system following the fatal crash.
“A report issued by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation’s (DCI) Criminalistics Laboratory, Mr. Soules’ specimens were negative for drugs and alcohol,” his legal team said in the documents.
“The DCI conducted thorough toxicology testing on two separate samples – his urine and blood – and conclusively determined no detectable amounts of alcohol or drugs were in either specimen,” they continued. “Furthermore, Mr. Soules has not been charged with any alcohol related offense. Rather, Mr. Soules has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.”
According to the documents, Soules’ legal team also claims that the following are “not admissible” and has filed a motion that they not be used in reference to the case or presented to a jury: “Any evidence, testimony, reference, or argument that, on the night in question, Mr. Soules: 1) purchased alcohol, 2) consumed alcohol, 2) drove while impaired, or 3) had beer cans in or around his vehicle.”
His team had also requested that Mosher not be referred to a “victim” during the trial. Mosher died at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein after his tractor and the pickup truck crashed, KWWL.com reported.Soules’ trail is slated for January.

Demi Lovato Side-Steps Sexuality Question on Twitter: ‘I Don’t Owe Anybody Anything’
by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Sep 20 19:12:16 PDT 2017
Demi Lovato is not done clapping back at those pushing her to answer questions on her sexuality.
The “Confident” singer, 25, responded to a fan’s complaint about her decision to avoid questions regarding her sexuality on Wednesday.
“I love Demi Lovato, but her reason for refusing to talk about her sexuality is total bull—-,” the person tweeted.
Lovato’s tweeted back, writing, “Expectant and rude. Watch my documentary and chill out.”
The singer was referring to her YouTube documentary I Am: Demi Lovato. After responding to the tweet, Lovato tweeted again, writing, “Just because I’m refuse to label myself for the sake of a headline doesn’t mean I’m not going to stand up for what I believe in.”

This isn’t the first time Lovato has avoided talking about her sexuality, telling Pride Source recently, “I love who I love.”

When asked if she’s like to speak directly about her sexuality, Lovato replied, “Thank you for the opportunity, but I think I’m gonna pass.”
“I think we live in a world today where no matter what you do, you’re doing something wrong, whether it’s cultural appropriation or it’s being insensitive to certain groups of people,” Lovato said when talking about “Cool for the Summer.”
When asked whether there was a specific reason why she chose not to speak openly about her sexuality the singer replied, “I just feel like everyone’s always looking for a headline and they always want their magazine or TV show or whatever to be the one to break what my sexuality is.”

Brooklyn Beckham Shares Sweet Instagram About Rekindled Love Chloe Grace Moretz: ‘Thinking of This One’
by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Sep 20 20:43:31 PDT 2017
Brooklyn Beckham isn’t shying away from letting his love for Chloe Grace Moretz show.
Making up for lost time, the 18-year-old photographer shared a sweet photograph of the 20-year-old actress on Wednesday, writing in the caption, “Thinking of this one xx.”
Moretz, who dated the son of David and Victoria Beckham for nearly a year before they split, also shared a photo of him on Wednesday, with a simple caption, “8.27.17 NY.”
Beckham, who recently started attending college in New York City, told The Cut that some of his classmates were a bit starstruck by him.
“I like people from school, but there are a few fangirls in the school,” he said. “Sometimes, I have to be like, ‘I’m going to be with you for like, four years, so chill.'”
PEOPLE confirmed in August that Beckham and Moretz were “hanging out” nearly a year after they split.
On Sunday, Beckham shared a photo of himself watching TV and made it clear they were once again back on, wrote that he was “missing my girl,” with Moretz tagged in the photo.

Golnesa 'GG' Gharachedaghi's Ex Requests Spousal Support from Shahs of Sunset Star
by Natalie Stone @ PEOPLE.com
Wed Sep 20 18:33:40 PDT 2017
Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi‘s ex is requesting spousal support from the Shahs of Sunset star.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE and filed Sept. 14 to the Superior Court of Los Angeles, Shalom Yeroushalmi is asking that Gharachedaghi pay him spousal support when their divorce is finalized and is also requesting that she pay his attorney’s fees.
Additionally, Yeroushalmi, 33, claims in the documents that the former couple separated Sept. 13, 2017, which differs from the date Gharachedaghi, 35, listed in her divorce filing. A rep for Gharachedaghi had no comment.
The former couple got engaged in December when Yeroushalmi scored a billboard with her picture on it in New York’s Times Square to pop the question with a stunning ring. And a month later, the couple wed on Jan. 25, her rep previously confirmed to PEOPLE.
After less than two months of marriage, the Bravo personality split from Yeroushalmi in March due to “certain facts” that Gharachedaghi became aware of. “During the past few weeks, certain facts have come to GG’s attention that have made her realize her marriage can no longer continue and, in fact, should have never happened,” her rep said in a statement to PEOPLE. “She is hoping to end the relationship as amicably and respectfully as possible.”
WATCH: Shahs of Sunset’s Mike Shouhed Talks Divorce, Cheating Scandal
On May 12, she filed for divorce — citing irreconcilable differences — and listed her date of separation from Yeroushalmi in court documents as March 27.
Speaking with PEOPLE in July, Gharachedaghi opened up about her failed marriage. “In the simplest terms that I can put it, I would say submissions breeds resentment,” she shared.
“I have never believed in marriage. I did something to make someone else happy and I completely regretted it afterwards. I knew what I did was wrong and it wasn’t for me or for my happiness, but for someone else, and I guess for one moment I thought maybe someone else’s happiness will do it for me. And it didn’t,” she said.
The pair both lived in the same complex for years and met one day in their building’s elevator. After sparking up a conversation with Yeroushalmi, Gharachedaghi said their relationship, which began in September 2016, “literally started as of the next day and we were just together every single day.”
Although their romance was a whirlwind from the beginning to its end, Gharachedaghi believes their love was real and did try to make it work.
“I know it sounds silly because it was such a short relationship, but it happened so fast and the intensity of everything that happened — what would happen in a four-year timeframe happened in a four-month timeframe,” said Gharachedaghi. “We went to a therapist that we’d been seeing for two months and we were trying. I was giving it every chance to fix things and see what can come of it. I just couldn’t — things couldn’t change.”
A rep for Yeroushalmi did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Shahs of Sunset airs Sundays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

A luxury stay in Santander, Spain
by Cristina Alias @ A French Perspective
Mon Nov 09 14:05:53 PST 2015
Amongst Spanish people, Santander remains nowadays one of the most luxurious sea-side towns in the whole of Spain. Darci Lynne Farmer is the winner of America’s Got Talent!
After 52 million votes were cast, host Tyra Banks announced the 12-year-old singing ventriloquist as the champion of season 12. Farmer, who becomes the second ventriloquist to win the NBC reality competition show, burst into tears, hugging her rabbit puppet Petunia as her two brothers rushed the stage to congratulate her.
Farmer became the third female act to win America’s Got Talent in 12 seasons.

A big highlight from night two of the live finals was when the Oklahoma native performed with her “idol” Terry Fator, who won season 2 of AGT with his puppet, Winston the Impersonating Turtle, and signed a $100 million five-year contract with The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas.
The pair performed “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun.
During the first night of the live finals on Tuesday, judge Simon Cowell was so blown away by her performance of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” with Petunia and shy mouse Oscar that he predicted her as the all-around winner.
“I think you’re gonna win,” he said.
Weeks ago, during the audition process, Farmer impressed judge Mel B so much that the Spice Girl member chose her as the recipient of the coveted Golden Buzzer, sending Farmer straight to the live shows.
“I was very, very shy but America’s Got Talent has given me a voice and more confidence than I could ever have,” Farmer said in her video package before she made the top five on Wednesday.
Farmer beat out nine other finalists including singers Kechi Okwuchi, Evie Clair, Angelica Hale, Chase Goehring, and Mandy Harvey in addition to comedian Preacher Lawson, dog trainer Sara & Hero, and dance troupes Light Balance and Diavolo.
In addition to the title of season 12 champion, Farmer also wins $1 million and a headlining gig at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas from Sept. 3-4.
America’s Got Talent airs Wednesdays (8 p.m. ET) on NBC.
Oklahoma Couple Sentenced to 20 Years for Torturing and Beating Boy So Badly He Suffered Multiple Strokes
by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com

Two Oklahoma women were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the brutal beating of their 5-year-old son.
Rachel Jean Stevens, 29, and Kayla Ann Jones, 26, pleaded no contest to child abuse and child neglect charges on Friday.
The boy told authorities in December 2015 that his mother, Stevens, and her partner Jones had beaten him with a belt, Tulsa World reported.
But investigators discovered that he had not just been beaten with a belt but had been locked in a room, tied up and blindfolded with duct tape over his eyes.
Stevens then had hit the boy’s hand with a hammer, and Jones had “kicked him so hard in the groin that it made him bleed,” Tulsa World reported.
According to KFOR , authorities found another 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl living in the home, but did not believe those children had been abused. The Department of Human Services took the children into custody.
Officers transported the victim to a hospital in Tulsa, after he suffered through two seizures, as well as multiple broken bones, according to the NewsOK.
CBS News reported in 2016 that a GoFundMe page set up by the two women asked for donations, claiming the child was picking his own face and was having seizures because he fell down.
Muskogee County District Attorney Orvil Loge told Tulsa World Wednesday that the plea agreement accepted by the women “was a conclusion that was carefully discussed with the family.”
“The nature of the injuries were very severe, but the child is doing very well now in loving home,” Loge said. “He is a completely different child now than when this first came in.”
